Why Don’t You Have Free Members?

A: Your Ad tracker started out with two membership levels, free and Pro. After two years and several thousand members be began to have a few serious problems with free members. Our site went off line three times in four months from abuse. We were hacked twice, a couple of members used mass mailers and spam. Then we had several free accounts using our service as a mass phishing attempt for several large banks. This got a lot of attention including that of the FTC. I didn’t want to loose our site and I knew if we didn’t take immediate action it would be shut down. Every single issue of abuse was from free members. We made the difficult decision to convert to an all Pro membership site. You can see the details here: YourAdTracker.com Goes All Pro
Side effects: As a result of going all Pro (paid), we experienced some pleasant results – just opposite our expectations. The site ran faster and more smoothly, member registration actually increased, our Alexa rank improved, our daily hits just exploded and our profits increased.
How it benefits you: Our members benefit from the huge site cleanup and switch to an all Pro format by clean trackers. By that I mean our site is kept clean and off the spam and black lists. When you use a tracking or short URL in an email where the site has been reported sending spam too often your email may be filtered out without ever arriving. If it does get through it will likely go straight to the spam box or junk mail. This is caused by members using the site to send spam and it’s our experience that this is almost always a free member. Someone spamming or phishing doesn’t want to be identified by their PayPal account which is linked to a credit card or bank account! We are finding it very easy to keep our site clean now and our reputation is very good. Our site is popular enough that most can see the tracking link and recognise it as just that. You will find that our reputation and recognition increases your click through rate.
